The EXCITE Newsletter: April 30th, 2021

RFA OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED!

Yesterday you should have received this note but here it is just in case:

We are pleased to announce that the Extension Collaborative on Immunization Teaching & Engagement (EXCITE) grant award (#2021-77041-34831) letter with USDA-NIFA has been received. This now completes the contract information and applications. This information updates and replaces what was formerly listed as “pre-advanced guidance” that has been shared since February 11th, 2021.

The RFAs are available here and are listed on the EXCITE website at extension.org/immunization:

So here is a bit more explanation of what this means to you. We received the final contract on Wednesday afternoon. The pre-decisional application that we had provided to you included basic federal standard template contract language provided by NIFA. Thanks to the Extension Foundation’s thorough review of the contract we received, the review found one contract statement not included in the pre-decisional subaward contract in the application that we provided to you. In full transparency, and for your understanding, there is one new item in the Terms and Conditions in Attachment 2A of the subaward contract which is now included in the posted Application for both 1 and 2.

Additionally, missing information is now included which are the face pages from the NIFA award and the appropriate award numbers on the first page and related information on the first page and also on Attachment 2A. There are NO changes in the application questions themselves, in what you submit, or the timeframe. The only difference is that your Office of Sponsored Programs needs to review this newly published application with the appropriate contract language. Only the new, correct language application and contract language are on the website.

We are in direct contact with institutions that have already applied and what they need to do differently. If you have not yet submitted your application for Activity 1, the only change is to work from the current application on the website. If you are in the midst of review with your office of grants and contracts, provide them with the new contract language.

Thanks for your understanding. The reason this occurred is that we were doing our very best to get this application out to you to allow you more time to do your planning and submission so we could get money out to you sooner due to the urgent nature of this work. We have been successful with that with effort with just these simple revisions. If you have any questions, contact me, Katie Stofer or Tira Adelman.

My best,

Marketing Research Tip from Lindsey Haynes-Maslow

Top 3 Things to Keep in Mind for Marketing Campaigns

  1. Listen to your target audience first before implementing marketing campaigns
  2. Pilot messages with your target audience to see how well they resonate
  3. Adapt or tailor pilot messages based on target audience feedback before full implementation.

While this may not be standard operating for Extension, these are excellent steps.  Please listen first!  We cannot assume we know the message language  without testing!
