Junior Master Wellness Volunteer Program (Immunization Supplemental)

The Junior Master Wellness Volunteer (JMWV) Program is a community health education and volunteer leader training program offered through the Extension 4-H Program that partners with students in various disciplines, such as the health science courses, family and consumer science courses, and individually focused clubs or organizations for training and delivery of health messages into the community

Learning Objectives
- Will learn about how infectious diseases spread and how vaccines work.
- Can articulate the role of youth in shaping the future of public health, particularly as it pertains to their influence on adult immunization behavior.
- Will understand how one could integrate adult health education into existing youth programs.

Training / Certification
Virtual in-service training on the entire curriculum for educators who are not familiar with the JMWV Program, broken into four sessions at 1.5 hours each for a total of 6 hours of training. A standalone module on infectious disease and adult vaccines for existing JMWV programs is being developed and would require approximately 1.5 hours of training.

Quick Facts
- Intended audience: Teens ages 14-18 with an interest in leadership, advocacy, extending knowledge, serving as role models, and volunteering aimed at improving health literacy and healthy lifestyle choices.
