About this Program: This training provides Extension professionals and community health partners with poverty-informed strategies for immunization education. Using data-driven approaches, participants learn how to effectively engage and educate low-resourced populations about preventive health behaviors, including immunizations. The training supports the development of team-specific action plans to better serve local communities.

Training Pathway

This is a training-based program and materials are not available for download until completed. To use this curriculum, participants must first complete a foundational training, followed by an optional advanced training to support deeper implementation.

Step 1: Foundational Training (Required)

  • Virtual training (~6 hours total, delivered via Zoom)
  • Led by University of Idaho Extension team
  • Focuses on core poverty-informed strategies for immunization education

Step 2: Advanced Training (Optional, Recommended)

  • In-person, multi-day training
  • Provides deeper skill development and implementation support
  • Currently offered regionally

How It’s Used

Following training, participants can:

  • Apply poverty-informed approaches in their existing programs
  • Train or support community health partners
  • Develop action plans tailored to local needs

Expected Outcomes

Participants will:

  • increase knowledge of techniques for providing better health education to people experiencing poverty.
  • increase confidence in providing health education to clients experiencing poverty.

A team/organization will:

  • implement poverty-informed strategies within their workplace.
  • encourage external/community partners to incorporate poverty-informed perspectives into their work environment.
